Basically a Personal Alarm is what is referred to as a Lifeline Alarm Unit or Social Alarm Unit. In essence it is an alarm hub which can connect to wireless or wired sensors or detectors of various origins. Typically each unit will come with a portable wireless alarm button/trigger to allow remote activation should a user require help or assistance.
There are potentailly unlimited options to link alarms from various detectors and devices due to the advanced technology available, including using pre programmed times or zone within which devices will operate
Personal Alarm Units act as hubs for numerous sensors and detectors using dedicated wireless transmission when an alert or alarm is raised. Pictured is the Tunstall Healthcare UK Lifeline Vi which in common with other devices has an integral "Red" press for help button. Our Gallery above shows images for detectors, sensors, and alarm units of similar types.
Personal Alarms are connected to a telephone line and Mains Electric sockets. Some units also have facility to use GSM Mobile SIM Cards. All have internal rechargeable batteries to allow use in extended power cuts. As such they provide the "Hub" to route alarm calls to dedicated 24/7 Monitoring Centres and/or Family and Friends Home/Office or Mobile Phones. Not only will the "Hub" identify what alarm has been raised, but also allows speech communication between user and responder.
In addition to reactive alarms like Gas and Fire Detection Personal Alarms feature like Burglar Alarm Function which uses silent alarm for anything from empty property unlawful access to personal attack assistance. Even zoning intruder functions to enable downstairs monitoring whilst sleeping upstairs at night. Temperature Monitoring, Bed Absence, Falls protection and Property Exit functions are also available
